As you know, I’ve had my fair share of monthly subscription boxes. I’ve tried Birchbox, ipsy, Bulu Box, Julep and so on. This month, PopSugar sent me their Must Have Box to review. Let’s get on with it, yeah? <– I’m totally channeling Sarah.
This was a neat first box for me. I am bringing everything to my family’s 4th of July party this weekend. There is something for every stage of this party, aka Epic Water Balloon Fight 2016. (Long story short, we learned about Bunch O Balloons and now, 30 of us will be battling it out.)
This set of Ridley’s Game Room “Who Am I” Quiz Cards will be used by the cousins who don’t play poker. These are pop culture/guess the celebrity cards! I think I will still win at this because they are way younger than me, and I’d be surprised if they knew who Richard Burton was. Andrew Lincoln, yes; Bette Midler, maybe. Sweet. I’m going to win!
I finally got my claws fixed and my nail lady suggested I use a red base to let this NCLA “Born on the Fourth” nail polish shine. She was right. I’m usually not a glittery nail polish person because I can never see the glitter, but the NCLA polish is very pigmented and vomits glitter on your nails. I feel very American. Two thumbs up.
This KNOCK KNOCK “Are You Ready for Your Closeup?” Mirror Compact is great because it has a magnified mirror on one side and a regular mirror on the other. You know when you’re looking for that damn eyelash that got stuck in your eyeball? Or when someone throws a water balloon in your face and you have to check that your eye makeup hasn’t run? This compact is going to get a lot of use this weekend.
In addition, I LOVE the Sisters of Los Angeles “Cheers” bottle opener. It packs flat unlike the cheapo bottle opener I own. I believe it is made of stainless steel – important! It’s a lovely gold color, and who doesn’t love gold? Our extended family loves bottled specialty sodas and I like beer, so this will come in handy this weekend.
I know exactly what I’ll be using to cover my fat butt at the party. I hand-washed and hang-dried Hat Attack’s Neutral Diamonds-Printed Sarong, hence the wrinkles. Don’t mind those – real life, right? I’ll be bringing this to BlogHer in August because damn those air-conditioned conference rooms!! This is super lightweight and LONG which means you can double wrap it around your neck.
Lastly, given that we live in LA, it will be balls-hot this weekend. I will, no doubt, be sweating out of my armpits, forehead and crotch area. Don’t lie. You know you sweat in your crotch. I do appreciate anything that lets me wipe my underarms and allow me to not offend people around me. Enter Pacifica’s Underarm Deodorant Wipes. I’m sharing these with my stanky cousins. Because they don’t need to offend me either.
I didn’t get to take a separate photo of the bag of Pressels because I ate them. Wanh wanh. (Do not go to the Pressels website. Usability sucks and their links to social media don’t work.) But here is PopSugar’s write-up on them.
In the end, I am pleasantly surprised at how nice the products were. The box was curated for summer and all of the elements made sense. A monthly subscription to PopSugar’s Must Have Box is $39.95 per month. I think it was worth $40 since the retail value was over $100. (However, in real life, I probably wouldn’t have bought a sarong for $58 – I would have looked for a less expensive one.)
I’m interested in seeing what July’s box has to offer. You? Are you already a PopSugar Must Have Box subscriber? What’s been your experience? Please share!
Special thanks to PopSugar for sending me a Must Have Box to review.
[…] I found this one more miss than hit. The June box fit me better. I may also be the wrong audience for this box. On the other hand, I’m bringing […]
