My Favorite Chris Evans Movies

I can’t wait for Avengers: Age of Ultron! There’s a lot of noise around Iron Man and how RDJ is going to be a big part of the next Captain America movie. I find that weird. It’s a Captain America movie. RDJ has his own franchise.

That got me thinking about Chris Evans and how he’s placed at #3 in the Avengers PR line. I think it’s Iron Man, then Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and then Captain America. Meh. People (women) love Thor and his blonde hair. I can’t stand him. In mythology, Thor is an a-hole. A big one. (I had to be cajoled to watch Thor.)

Back to Chris Evans. There are a few movies that I think people should really watch, and these are….

My Favorite Chris Evans Movies*

1. Sunshine. This is the movie that made me pay attention to Chris Evans. He can act. It’s a science fiction movie with a little bit of horror thrown in. Michelle Yeoh is in it! Rose Byrne is in it! Even freakish Cillian Murphy is in it!

The earth is dying. A crew is sent to jumpstart the sun. Everything bad happens. It’s such an underrated movie.

2. Snowpiercer. Fair warning – this is a graphic movie. It’s written and directed by the same guy who directed The Host. The Wife jokes that it’s basically the Rosa Parks story but on a train, with Chris Evans as Rosa Parks with an axe. Um. Sorta. But no. There’s a great end and I was thrown. It also stars Tilda Swinton and damnit, she should have won an award for Best Supporting Actress. Or at least her bonk teeth should have.

3. Both Captain America movies. The First Avenger and The Winter Soldier. I really enjoyed this sequel. I liked his origin movie, which is rare because I’m not a fan of origin stories. (See Spider-Man.) The first one was fantastic because it took place in the 40s and was “low tech.” The second one sped up the tech and there was more ScarJo! I laughed out loud when she said “Do you want to play a game” and tried to explain it to Cap. COME ON. Such a good joke.

Honorable Mention: Scott Pilgrim vs the World. His 5 minutes was hilarious. I thought it was great to see him and Brandon Routh (sad box office Superman) have senses of humor and the ability to laugh and be in this movie as silly characters.
