Last year, Baby Spawn was way too young to visit theme parks for the holidays. I felt like I would be a crappy parent for dragging out a six-month old all day to some foreign place with loud noises, bright lights and tons of people.
THIS year, I believe she’s ready to rock and roll. So I’m pretty excited to take her back to Knott’s Merry Farm!
Get Your HOs In At Knott’s Merry Farm
The number one star, Snoopy, is back in a new ice show called Merry Christmas, Snoopy! Snoopy and the gang will be skating from November 21 to January 3 (dark Wednesdays). If you’re new to Knott’s or haven’t been in a while, I’d definitely recommend catching a show when you’re there.
The Wilderness Dance Hall in Ghost Town transforms into Santa’s Christmas Cabin for the holiday season. You can share your wish lists with jolly ol’ St. Nick and take home a picture of the occasion. I need to figure out what’s on my wish list this year. Maybe a standing desk. (Or materials to make my own standing desk.)
Knott’s world-famous holiday treats can be found all throughout Ghost Town, including fresh poured-to-order maple lollipops at the Gold Trails Hotel, holiday churros from the Churro Factory, and warm gingerbread men baked at the Farm Bakery. There will also be holiday yummies like Santa’s homemade cookies, mouthwatering pastries, fresh roasted nuts, seasonal craft beer, and decadent cinnamon rolls. The last time I was there, I missed out on the boysenberry latte – I will be ordering one this time, damnit.
Baby Spawn and I are headed to the Camp Snoopy theater later in the day. Knott’s is debuting an all-new show, Christmas Time is Here, Charlie Brown. The show features a delightful mash up of some of your favorite holiday songs with a cheerful and heartwarming dose of the Peanuts gang. Let’s hope Spawn will be a little more receptive to big-head characters!
When the sun sets on the Farm, the buildings and paths in Ghost Town will twinkle to the beat of holiday music while snow gently falls. I can’t wait to see Baby Spawn’s eyes light up when it starts to “snow!” This year, snow falls across even more of Ghost Town, from the School House to the Saloon and down to the Assay Office. Another nighttime tradition at Knott’s Merry Farm is Snoopy’s Merriest Tree Lighting show on the Calico Square Stage. This tree lighting features a cast of marching toy soldiers, Mrs. Claus, dancing snowmen, and of course, the world’s most famous beagle, Snoopy!
