I love warm weather, but this is ridiculous. It has been in the high 90s where I live, and it’s in the low 90s INSIDE MY APARTMENT. Without further ado, here’s…
What’s Making Me Happy This Week:
5. Labor Day Monday – It gave me a chance to recuperate from the Disneyland Half. As usual, parts of my body were hurting – lower back, upper back, shins, shoulders, … even my butt. I didn’t get a break from work but at least it was a light day.
4. A new striped maxi dress from TJ Maxx – Sometimes you just don’t want to shave your legs. And shorts aren’t doing it for you. So you wear a maxi dress. I picked one up (another striped one) from my local TJ Maxx for less than $20! SCLB’rs – you’ll see me with my new one. (It’s kind of similar to this one.)Â What can I say, I like stripes… and polka dots… and leopard print!
3. Philip Lim for Target. The collection doesn’t get released until September 15th but the previews have been overwhelmingly positive. One of the reasons this makes my list is because it’s another Asian designer who gets his due in  one of the biggest retailers in the country.
2. QVC Friday Night Beauty.Â
Stop laughing.
This is how I was convinced to buy Josie Maran’s Argan Oil and TARTE’s foundation. The first show (?) I caught was one that featured Mally of Mally Cosmetics a few years ago. She’s not white. She has a makeup empire. Her presence made me stop channel surfing and watch. No joke.
Granted, I don’t always have time to sit on the couch and watch this hours-long infomercial/sales show, but when I do catch it, it’s pretty helpful. Of course, take it with a grain of salt. Sometimes the brands are not impressive, nor are their reps. That Chaz Dean guy from Wen Hair Products still scares me. Sister-gurl, shave that scruff. Ugh.
QVC personalities generally impress me. You know it must be hard to talk LIVE for hours about products you may or may not care about. If it were me, I would probably say 50 inappropriate things easily. (See below.)
1. DAT ASS.Â
After 166,000 miles and 14 years of driving, I finally retired my little Honda. My car took me through many road trips to San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, Irvine (ha!) … and it also held up to years and years of relentless (and I mean RELENTLESS) LA commuting. It even survived an idiot crashing into my PARKED baby.
This week, I retired her. I upgraded. To another Honda. What can I say? I’m a Honda gal. I think this one should last me another 14 years.
While my last Honda was my trusty homegirl, this one is a baller dude. I think I shall name him “51st Shade of Grey.” At 185 horsepower, this big man is going to give me loads of pleasure. It has all these bells and whistles – I’m a little overwhelmed.
I’ve told you mine.
Now tell me yours. What’s made you happy this week?Â
I’m so happy Philip Lim is coming out with stuff for Target too! So excited for it!
That dress on the right is sooo cute! & LOL you’re so asian, with your Honda 😉 I actually think of getting one myself when I need to retire my Chrysler….
I am so behind. I gotta get my Friday post up! But I love your new striped maxi!!! I want more Maxis in my life so much.
Do it!! We should go shopping together! I’ll wear the new one tomorrow. 🙂
I love that you admitted to getting sucked in by QVC. So funny. Once a year (or so) I get on the kick that I’m going to wear make-up, buy myself some expensive stuff and then promptly never wear it. I’m just too damn lazy. Wish that I wasn’t but it’s true.
This heat is ridiculous!
Awww. Maybe the stuff is too time-consuming to put on? I love L’oreal’s BB cream – $8 and covers nicely, esp on hot days like this. (Not thick at all.)
