It’s National Running Day today! What a perfect day for me to recap our first race together.
Club MomMe StrollNRun 5K
Last weekend, The Wife, Baby Spawn and I drove down to the South Coast Botanic Gardens to participate in Club MomMe‘s Stroll N Run 5K! It was our first race with a stroller, and how fun it is to participate with the baby! There should be more races like this to include small children and babies!
Coincidentally, it was also National Stroller Running Day 2015 – aka #strollerrun15! (This was started by Katie at Mom’s Little Running Buddies.) The course was a hilly one-mile loop around the gardens and you had to stroll it three times to make the 5K.
My friends Sheryl of Running In Pigtails and Lindsay of Fit & Awesome also joined in the fun with their babies! We strolled together with Babies Spawn, Awesome and Mini Pigtails. There were a couple of hills that tested my stamina, especially since I hadn’t run in a long time. Add a 30-lb stroller and a 19-lb baby along for the ride, and it gets a little strenuous. At one point, we had a breastfeeding situation and I applaud Sheryl for wearing Mini Pigtails, nursing, and walking with the stroller up to the finish line. I mean, come on.
There were plenty of runners who were booking it through the course with their strollers. Then we found out that the first person who finished the race won a BOB Stroller! (Ah!)
After we finished the course, we strolled to check out all the vendors on the green. Club MomMe has the best events when it comes to babies and toddlers. There are always new-to-me brands that table as well as the baby brands that all new moms prefer. Some of the products and brands that either tabled or were stashed in my VIP bag included:
- Kura Nutrition protein powders
- Amy & Brian Coconut Juice
- The Honest Co deodorant spray
- Oat Mama lactation granola bar
- Fabletics hair bands
- Zeel Massage on Demand
- The Nanny League
- Monkey Mat
- High Brew Coffee
- Chloe’s Soft Serve Fruit
- Fresh Brothers Pizza
- Mama Strut
- and so many more!
At the BOB Stroller tent, Lindsay and I got to meet Katie of Mom’s Little Running Buddies! Yes, even as bloggers, we got to nerd out meeting her.
Love meeting @ltSurf and @thechrislam #StrollerRun15
But wait, there’s more. I also stalked Cashmere of “Ron and Cash.” Her kids are so cute and I love seeing their babywearing adventures on Instagram. I dragged Sheryl with me to meet Cash because it would be super creepy if I just jumped on her with my crazy eyes and said I spy on her Instagram.
Luckily she was gracious as we peppered her about her Ergobaby (it’s new and she’s a brand ambassador). We also chatted about the Ergo 360 which I have and love. (You either hate or love the velcro waistband!)
See those green mats on the grass? Those are Monkey Mats!
We had a wonderful time getting our sweat on and then noshing on some snacks. I definitely earned some sore muscles that day.
If you’re interested in participating in the next Stroll N Run, be sure to follow Club MomMe’s blog, FB and Twitter. Club MomMe also puts on the Spring Family Fest and Fall Family Fest – both of which are huge and well attended.
Thanks to Club MomMe for having me as a VIP participant at this first Stroll N Run! I look forward to next year’s race!
Glad you had a great time! I love the style of that ergo! I had a polka dot KP that I re-sold cause it was too big for pumpkin but I regret it now cause it would fit. lol
