If you’re like my Facebook feed, you’ll have already streamed all 85 seasons of the Gilmore Girls on Netflix. I’m slowly going through them again when I have a free TV moment.
I loved the Gilmore Girls. I looked forward to Lorelai and Rory’s rat-tat-tat banter. Their mother-daughter relationship is something that I’d love to have with Spawn – open and honest.
There were a handful of characters that ruined the show for me. The number one culprit? ….
The Worst Character on Gilmore Girls was Kirk

I don’t care what sort of excuse you have for Kirk. He was the worst of the bunch. I found him to be the most annoying character on Gilmore Girls. Anytime he was on-screen, he took me out of the idyllic town of Stars Hollow and made me mad. Kirk beat out Luke in my personal poll of most annoying characters.
Yeah, I said Luke. *throws gauntlet down* But hey, let’s first talk Kirk. *throws breastmilk down*
I’m assuming that Kirk was written in to show how cute Stars Hollow was with its quirky cast of characters. Well, damn it, you didn’t need Kirk for that! That’s what Miss Patty, Sally Struthers aka Babette and Taylor were for! Kirk worked a million odd jobs around Stars Hollow. He was like the town jester. It’s unnecessary. I feel he took away from the show but I know they used him as a foil to Luke and other characters.
In addition to having Kirk pop in and out of scenes to provide comic relief or whatever, it felt like Kirk was such an unreal person. (Yes yes, I’m writing about a fictional character set in a fictional town starring a fictional mother-daughter duo. I know how this sounds.) He was creepy. I’m sure the town of Stars Hollow tolerated him because I don’t know. I really don’t. Was it because they felt sorry for him? Did he not have family around? Was he a secret CIA agent that was pretending to be the town goofus?
My brain isn’t working well enough to remember all 85 seasons of the show. I don’t have specific examples of why Kirk bugged me so much. But let’s turn the tables around.

I hated Kirk so much!!
I am just now binge-watching the episodes of Gilmore Girls and if I could do away with ANY character in ANY show ever created, it would be KIRK from Gilmore Girls. He has got to be THE MOST obnoxious fictional character that ever ‘lived’. I completely agree that he takes away from the show and adds nothing but dreadful irritation and disgust as I strain to watch scenes where he is present. It relieves me to know that other viewers feel the same way.
KIRK IS THE WORST. Thank You, because I always feel like people are always saying how funny he is. WTF? Every time he was on screen I started grinding my teeth in frustration.
I HATE Kirk. If he was not in the show it would be much better. I have never once thought he was funny. Taylor is annoying too, but Kirk’s worse.
I agree with you on Kirk. It’s weird that he was a series regular and none of the other townsfolk were… but Jess is my least fave character. Annoying!!!
