Let’s get right to it! Y’all know I work in social media. Part of my job is to pay attention to current news and pop culture references; this includes social media marketing wins for brands and businesses.
Here are three winners in my book this week:
3. Earlier this week (or last week, really) #SFBatKid saved San Francisco Gotham City! (SF needs a savior too, IMO. Savior from snootiness. #BOOM) Even President Obama gave a shout-out to Miles the BatKid! Dang. Buzzfeed posted a play-by-play here.
This is my favorite photo.

Sidenote: Not to be outdone, this other kid named Miles raised a bunch of money for Philippines’ typhoon relief! One reason I added #SFBatKid was because of the viral nature. (Viral meaning not always organic but paid, AMIRITE, SM managers!??) Regardless, it did go viral very quickly. City and county officials took part with their “official” escorts and reports listing SF Bat Kid as the city’s hero. This whole project was a Make-A-Wish Foundation project. Good for them for making one kid’s dream come true. 2. Upper Darby Police Department’s social channels (FB and Twitter). Ya know I got little love for the police, but this is pretty fantastic. Kudos to the UDPD for allowing the community manager publish these snarky posts and letting him respond back with extra snark. I don’t think the community manager is a police officer, but I’m sure he’s taking some direction from them. You’ll see there are serious posts as well as their fun, sarcastic comments. UDPD’s channels are examples of knowing your audience, their threshold for snark & wit, and still being on-brand, ie. publishing posts that are police-related and safety-related to the community.
1. The time when Tesco Mobile responded back to this customer on Twitter. Awesome brand-to-brand action ensued. Thanks, Buzzfeed for capturing this thread!
This cracks me up. (Closing near the end of the Twitter convo.)
