I Just Blue Myself – Arrested Development at Gallery 1988

Looking out of Gallery 1988 – blue hands

Tobias Funke. I hated this character. But he had some great lines. Well, they all did.

The Wife and I spent a Saturday afternoon visiting Gallery 1988‘s latest art installment – an homage to “Arrested Development.” I love this gallery. They’ve got a Melrose location as well as a Venice (Santa Monica) location. If you love pop culture, you need to visit!

Here’s the list of art that’s up on the walls! (Alas, almost everything is sold out already.)

WIRI: 6.24.12 – Community, X-Games, and Maybe Daddies

The Wife and I shot down to Koreatown to see the Community art show curated by PixelDrip Gallery. I used my new old D40 to shoot and the results were mixed. I’m getting some blurry images, so I must be doing something wrong. Here are a few pieces that came out:

Community – “Digital Estate Planning” episode

Community: Paintball individual prints

Then we headed to LA LIVE for a quick jaunt to find a particular t-shirt for the Wife. No dice there.

But here’s what we ran into on our way… 1. New Edition concert at Nokia Theater, 2. the X-Games Hot Wheels Double Loop, and 3. this sign:

Does it really need a caption?

We walked up Fig and saw the guard rails to this crazy get-up being welded. Here’s the Facebook Page: facebook.com/hotwheels.

Friday Five: 6.22.12 – Jury Duty

This week I was on-call for jury duty. I went in one day and waited in the pen. There were framed posters of celebs who had served on a jury or reported for jury duty. People like Judge Lance Ito, Camryn Manheim, Jamie Lee Curtis, Weird Al and Edward James Olmos. I wish I could’ve taken pics of them. Any freshman learning graphic design would have done a better job.

Here are my five for this week:

1. My new old Nikon D-40 needs to be taken out and I’ve got to keep shooting. I’ve accidentally figured out the f-stop for bokeh. Keyword: accidentally.

2. My cousin and fashionista blogger Kat (An Eye for Fashion) was mentioned in one of Budget Babe’s round-ups. Well deserved!

3. Work. Tough week.

4. The Wife was watching Worst Tattoos on TLC. I don’t understand why these people didn’t do any research or check out the quality of their tattoo artists. Oh yeah, most of them were drunk when they went to get a bad tattoo. Gah.

5. The Korean market near my home changed up their cold foods/fermented foods bar. I can tell you now that I will not be tasting this one at all…

What?! Yes! It’s an official 2012 This Week in Photos (WEEK) post! Here we are in February, and I am making a solid effort to get these up every week. For real. Here we go.

Do you want to participate in TWiP? You should! Let me know so I can add you to my TWiP carnival.

I was at Whole Foods and ran into these at the checkout aisle. I took a pic because I wanted to read reviews on these Zand Organic zinc lozenges.

Have you tried Kombucha? I’m a fan when I have a cold or need something other than coffee to keep me energized. My favorite brand is Wonder Drink, but I tried GT’s Kombucha in Multi-Green and nearly gagged. I recommend the fruitier flavors.

Everyone needs duck tape (I call it duct tape, do you?). But do you have Hello Kitty duck tape (duct tape)?! Target sells this roll of awesomeness.

We visited a real estate office and saw THIS! I laughed and you know I had to take a pic.

Grandma made some dishes and picked up others for our post-Chinese New Year lunch. Trust me, everything is good on this table.
