WIRI: February 2013 in Photos (TWiP)

Check out what I ran into last month in photos…. some photos were Instagrammed, some were taken with my old Android, some with my new iPhone 5. Enjoy!

Moscow Mule from PS 310 (Culver City)

The Wife and I had a date with PS 310, the new gastropub by the makers of the Daily Grill and PS 612. It was bigger than PS 612 and seemed busier with diners. (PS 612 is located IN a Daily Grill in downtown LA.) The older I get, the more I like ginger. This is my moscow mule.

Earl Grey Tea Pie - Pie Hole LA (inspired by Downton Abbey)

I’ve become a pie fan. This has been my go-to, and I thank The Pie Hole LA for creating this slice of awesome: the earl grey tea pie, inspired by Downton Abbey! I wonder if they’ll create a butterbeer pie for us Harry Potter fans…

Hedgehog measuring cups - AnthropologieI found these really cute – hedgehog measuring cups, found at Anthropologie.

Earl Grey Tea Pie – The Pie Hole LA – AGAIN

Wait what? Yes. I did. Again. Luckily I have many friends I can take to The Pie Hole and use that as a screen to eat more pie.

WIRI: LA Kings Holiday Ice – LA Live

What do you do with thousands of LA Kings season ticket holders who are super grumpy that the NHL lockout is still going on? You invite them to a private ice skating session at LA Live!

This past weekend, the Wife and I headed out to LA Live to do a little bit of ice skating. We hadn’t been skating in years. The last time we were on ice… I think we were in our 20s. (Point of reference: We are well into our 30s now.) It took me a while to get used to ice skates again. I have a fear of slicing fingers off with skates. My fear was unwarranted with these rental skates.

I left the Wife and our friends so I could practice without being afraid of falling and taking someone down with me. I got “good enough” to skate around the big Christmas tree about 4 times before they joined me. Ha! – They too needed to remember how to ice skate!

The Wife and me – LA Live

If you want to head out to LA Live for some skating, you can. Here are the details: http://lalive.com/events/festival-detail/222

General admission is $13; Kids $6; Seniors/Military $10. That includes skate rental, though I highly recommend you bring your own if you have your own pair. They are not comfortable at all.

If LA Live is too pricey, you can also ice skate at Pershing Square in Downtown LA. Admission is $6 for an hour and $2 for skate rental.

The fine print: Our skate session was comp’d.
