I’ve created a new blog to talk about Rodan + Fields and my experience as a newbie Consultant (C). It’s called Barenaked Skin CL, which coincides with my business website for R+F: barenakedskin.myrandf.biz.
Rodan + Fields – My First BBL
Last weekend, I hosted my first big business launch (BBL). It had been 30 days since I had joined, and a house party was the easiest thing for me to do. It was either that or meeting up with friends 1×1, and ain’t nobody got time for that. I have a daytime business to run as well as blogging here and taking care of Toddler Spawn. And that’s not even taking into account how little time my friends and guests have in their personal lives.
I set up my business kit and the products in the dining room. The Wife helped me clear the room as it’s usually Spawn’s play area. I also set up the extra products in my Booster Kit – sunscreen, body lotion, tinted peptides, etc.
My leader Panda came to help present to my guests, and I learned a lot. The main reason why I was hesitant in sharing my new business venture with my network was the fear of being mocked or rejected. I’ve realized, my friends will (mostly) be polite about rejecting my pitch – some will ignore it, some will ask questions. More often than not, I’ve gotten a “thanks but no thanks.” That is so much better than what was running through my own head, filled with expletives.
I’m ok with a “no thanks” reply. At least they replied. I find that reaching out to my network via PM or text or email about THIS business makes me anxious. The stigma that comes with direct sales follows me and I internalize it and assume it is the same with my friends. Case in point: Jamberry. Everyone I know are quick to judge people who sell Jamberry.
Here’s the “but” part: Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Since my word for 2016 is ‘commit,’ then I’m committed to giving this business my full attention (right after I manage my client workload). Just like I do with my clients and agency work, I have to show up to this business.
So, friends, I’m here to tell you that I’m committed to working this business for a full year. I’ll share more of my experience in this direct sales industry on the other blog. I’d love for you to follow me there!
So how did the year go?
Well! Thank you for asking! I am rounding into my third year and focused on making this a steady second stream of income. New post coming soon about goals and goal-setting.
It was a fun and informative party. Thanks for inviting me. I’m excited to see how this year goes for your new business. 😀
