Baby Spawn is doing well. We are lucky. Not everyone is fortunate to have a Baby Spawn like us.
This month marks Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. We are fortunate enough to not have experienced this but I know a few friends and relatives who have. [One friend is dealing with it AGAIN. And a relative of mine just got sideswiped with her pregnancy that wasn’t. Shitfuckshitfuckshit.]
Whether it was a miscarriage, stillborn, ectopic pregnancy, SIDS, or any other terrible cause, it’s important to acknowledge what these parents go through. It’s devastating. I can’t imagine what they go through.
Maybe I’m getting soft in my old age or Baby Spawn has pushed my hormones to the max level. That’s fine by me. I’m glad there are resources out there to help parents cope.
Here are several sites that provide support and resources for those parents. If you experienced a loss or know someone who has, these may be helpful:
- Remembering Our Babies
- SHARE – Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support
- Grieve Out Loud
- Helping After NeoNatal Death (HAND)
- Infants Remembered in Silence (IRIS)
- Twinless Twins – for parents of multiples
- Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep – Provides remembrance photos
- Molly Bears – personal teddy bears
I hope that it also gives some hope to parents who are grieving.
I’ll be back with my usual snarky posts tomorrow.
