Well, this week was a doozy. As you know, we got into our choice daycare and it was the first week for Toddler Spawn. There were a lot of tears. A lot. And a lot of monkey grip holds. It’s a new school, new kids to get used to, new teachers. I hope next week goes a little smoother for all of us.
Let’s get on with it.
Who Won the Internet
5. Mobile apps. Congratulations, mobile apps. You win. This morning, I stared at my computer and it took me a minute to figure out how to look up movie times. Ultimately, I went back to my phone and opened up Flixster. Wow. I’ve become that person.

4. The Olympics! One more week of awesome athletes coming together to compete in Brazil. Have you been watching? I watched a little bit of synchronized swimming (duet), and the commentator said something like “The longest they’ve stayed underwater is 1-minute 45-seconds.” ONE MINUTE AND45 SECONDS. I can barely hold my breath for 20-seconds! And they are doing things – treading water upside down, pushing themselves into acrobatics out of the water… all while holding their breaths.
3. Bloggers
One of my best friends Eli posted his update on the OR (Outdoor Retailer) Summer Event. Learn more about outdoor retailers… Hehe! If you love to hike, camp and be outside, keep this blog tabbed! Also preorder his book – Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail: Oregon!
My other BFF, Jen, has started making videos on YouTube and I’m so impressed by her creativeness and willingness to try different types of media for her blog! I’ve never heard of the Booktube Newbie Tag, so yay for me learning a new thing!
This post about body positivity and weight loss is all the things. Alyssa explains it all. (See what I did there?) I hope she gets a lot of traction with her post. I think it is something that a lot of people struggle with.
A couple weeks ago, some of my favorite bloggers had the opportunity to attend a Kia weekend event. I laughed so hard seeing their shenanigans. This is why we are friends. Watch the video embedded in Jillian’s post.
Snoop photobombing @hellosplendidblog 😂 Can’t take you nowhere, homeboy! He loves these kinda events👌 Photo by: @melissa_dell #thenewkia #coronado #sandiego #sd #619 #love #travel #wanderlust #snoopdogg #kiasedona #roadtrippin #kia
2. Bitchin’ business: Inkwell Press planners – I really like my paper planner from Inkwell Press. (You can read about my planner research here.) Well, for those of you on the fence, guess what? They have partnered with ACCO, which has Office Depot and Office Max for distribution. Congrats to Tonya. How cool is that – another woman entrepreneur gets her products into a large retailer?
Some of the planners will not be available to Office Depot/Max, and they will only be sold online in their shop. So check out her stuff and see what works for you!
1. Amazon Prime – well worth the $99 per year that we pay – for two-day shipping! Did you know that you get free Amazon Prime for six months? Then it’s $49/year instead of $99.
I don’t know if you can use it as a grad student, but it would be cool if they extended it to grad students too. In any case, 6 months free is niiiice. Those damn text books are so expensive and shipping sucks.
While I’ve been a Prime member for a few years, I’ve never really paid that much attention to the deals section or outlet section until now. It’s been a great way to find some uber deals – there have been some baby carriers at major discounts, it was insane. Anyway, thanks, Prime, for making my life easier in the last two weeks of personal/life struggles.

You are so nice. I’ll have a new video up tomorrow. I’ll give you a little spoiler… it’s about audiobooks. You should make a video with me!
