A couple weekends ago, The Wife and I drove out to Huntington Beach and attended the Club MomMe Spring Family Fest!  I came in as media and was treated to a complimentary breakfast, which was hosted by none other than Shelby Barone of OC MOM Blog! Unfortunately I couldn’t eat much because of my gestational diabetes (GD) but I did sneak in some fruit in my greek yogurt. #halfwin

What Caught My Eye
The first vendor I met was Joovy, a family-owned company based in #MURICA! The Wife and I haven’t decided on a stroller yet – I’m leaning towards baby-wearing for a while. But the Joovy stroller was so snazzy and impressive. I’ll have to keep my eye on this. It comes in different colors, and the seat goes from front-facing to parent-facing. (It kind of reminds me of the Britax Affinity.) Joovy also highlighted their new baby bottles called the BOOB. Hehe!

I couldn’t _not_ take a photo with goofy props at the Lansinoh booth. Who do you think I am? If you check out Instagram and the hashtag #lovemylansinoh, there are a funnier pics by other attendees.

We also met the sales director from Mixie, which is a genius product. GENIUS, y’all. For anyone who uses formula (powder), you need to check out this bottle. You put powder formula at the bottom of the bottle and your liquid at the top. When you’re ready to feed, you just pop the bottom and shake! It’s like a mini shake bottle for babies!
While this company was founded by a dad, I have to give it a thumbs up for being a #bitchinbusiness. This bottle would be useful while stuck on a plane with a hungry baby. (Side note: They are coming out with an adult version for fitness folks – win win win!!)
While looking for the restroom (I pee all the time now), I ran into a woman who created a fashionable nursing cover! April Marcial is the founder of Cover My Heart. Her scarves are lightweight and stylish. This is a MacGyver product – you can use it after nursing as a regular scarf! I glommed on to these because the nursing covers I’ve seen are made of cotton and they seem kind of “thick.” The Cover My Heart scarf is just so lightweight. It automatically wins – it’s #BitchinBusiness and the scarves are made in the USA!
How pretty, right? You know I love me some scarves! April generously gave me a leopard print scarf to try and review. Leopard, y’all. Leopard. *rawwwr*

Last but not least, The Wife and I sat in on Dr. Harvey Karp‘s talk “The Happiest Baby on the Block.” Usually I #sideeye male “baby experts” – they’re creepy-looking and are always looking to sell a book or DVD or CD or some BS. (See: Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz.) BUT! I have to say, I was impressed with Dr. Karp. Even The Wife, who is incredibly hard to impress, leaned over and said “We should get his DVD!” I mean, if you get a thumbs up from The Wife, you’re in.

Dr. Karp – Club MomMe
Dr. Karp listed the 5 S’s to help calm a baby down:
- Swaddle
- Side/stomach
- Shush
- Swing
- Sucking
He introduced a 6th S – Sleep. He recommends waking the baby up after you put ’em in their bed. The last thing they remember is they were in your arms. Once they wake, they freak out because they’re no longer in your arms. So the logic is that you get them up and aware that they’re about to sleep alone but swaddled and secure, and when they wake, they’re OK.
Whew!
One more thing…
In almost every corner or side table around the whole event, Club MomMe set up diaper changing stations. EVERYWHERE. How thoughtful! Who else but moms would think of that kind of thing? They weren’t just in the restrooms.
Ok last thing, I also ran into moms who wore their babies in different slings, carriers, and wraps. I went up to a few of them, asking about their likes an dislikes about their carriers, and it was refreshing to hear what they honestly thought about their carriers. It was my own version of Amazon reviews come to life. I guess when you’re in a room with a bunch of new parents, they’re willing to share their thoughts on this that or the other.

Club MomMe – take home goodies
Many thanks to the team at Club MomMe for inviting me as a media guest. The Wife and I went home with a bag of samples to try out as well as more information about brands I’ll be contacting for #bitchinbusiness interviews!
Disclosure: My event ticket was provided by the sponsor, as noted before. Post contains affiliate links.
I love the look of those scarves. I hope that I get to nurse my second baby (when that time comes). I agree that the Mixee is pretty awesome. But I was concerned about it not having an anti-colic version. You may find you need a stroller even with babywearing. It’s nice to use at times and some babies actually end up hating being worn. It’s all so hit and miss! lol
GTK! The stroller – we are going to wait as long as we can. I have my eye on two models and just watching if the reviews are favorable!
Ah its so cute to see you with your baby belly!! Looks like you are gonna be set with all the baby props and bottles. I am digging that scarf breast feeding cover up thingy!!! LOL
Nice swag!!!
Thank you!
That’s a great assortment of swag! I know you’ll think baby proofing can be put off for awhile – but you’d be surprised! And a friend tipped me and said “crawl around on the floor, all over your house. gives you a new perspective on what needs to be bolted down, removed, sectioned off” So true! Also, if you lay down and look up (like they do on the floor) PEOPLE ARE VERY SCARY! huge monsters! LOL.
LOL! I’ve done this inadvertently… while cleaning our apt. It _IS_ scary. Hehe!
