WIRI: February 2013 in Photos (TWiP)

Check out what I ran into last month in photos…. some photos were Instagrammed, some were taken with my old Android, some with my new iPhone 5. Enjoy!

Moscow Mule from PS 310 (Culver City)

The Wife and I had a date with PS 310, the new gastropub by the makers of the Daily Grill and PS 612. It was bigger than PS 612 and seemed busier with diners. (PS 612 is located IN a Daily Grill in downtown LA.) The older I get, the more I like ginger. This is my moscow mule.

Earl Grey Tea Pie - Pie Hole LA (inspired by Downton Abbey)

I’ve become a pie fan. This has been my go-to, and I thank The Pie Hole LA for creating this slice of awesome: the earl grey tea pie, inspired by Downton Abbey! I wonder if they’ll create a butterbeer pie for us Harry Potter fans…

Wait what? Yes. I did. Again. Luckily I have many friends I can take to The Pie Hole and use that as a screen to eat more pie.

I tried a bag of Coconut M&Ms. I’ll pass.

One more for the road, guys! I still have to write a post on the Natural Products Expo and the fun products I had a chance to sample. But first, here’s TWiP for the second week of March.

I tried a (new to me) milk tea place called Tea Bar Starry in Arcadia. It was good but a little too sweet for my taste. I’m trying not to die from diabetes and all.

There is a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf within walking distance of my office. I’m quite tempted to buy a carton of this coffee concentrate and make a version of my addictive Starbucks VIA… Is anyone reading this from CBTL?

While waiting for my car to get smogged, the place I went to had a few magazines. This caught my eye.

That weekend, I headed down to Anaheim for the Natural Products Expo and ran into THIS bag on an attendee. I stopped her and asked if I could take a photo for my blog. Shazam! Sexercise! (Interesting…)

I ended the weekend with brunch with the Wife at a HPK (Highland Park Kitchen). I’m normally not a pancake person, but I ordered the bananas fosters pancakes and I’m now a convert.

So behind! Let’s get started! TWiP (This week in photos) for the last few days of February and the first week of March – and we’re off:

I spent 20 hours fasting for my annual doctor’s appointment. 20 hours because I couldn’t get a morning appointment and the last meal I ate was 6:00pm the night before. Winning. I hadn’t been to my doc’s office in a year, and I noticed these new fancy couches.

I’m also addicted to Starbucks VIA coffee. I blame my friend Eli who didn’t have regular coffee when I visited him in Portland. Instead, he had VIA, which knocked the socks off me from its strength and intensity. Now I can’t get enough. I bought SEVEN (7) packs when they were on sale at Vons. That’s almost a month’s worth (or more…).

I spent the next few days looking at my shoes.

Best thing I found over the weekend? THIS OLD STOVE! And I found out that the owners still use it to cook their meals and everything!! It’s functional!

Did you watch the Oscars last night? What’d you think?

It’s time for another This Week in Photos (TWiP) post. Guess what I did this week? I ran! Here we go. All photos were taken with my HTC EVO!

Nothing for Monday. It seems my TWiP posts always start on Tuesdays…

I braved the traffic to get to the Westside on a weekday afternoon for our SMCLA panel “Social CRM” at the ING DIRECT LA Cafe. This was a great panel with our guest speakers: Dr. Natalie Petouhoff (my fellow board member), Charles Miller of DirecTV (my fellow board member), Gary May of imacsweb, and Jon Ferrara Nimble. If you’re interested in joining me at the next event, let me know! (Save the date – March 20 – venue tbd!)

I had a great lunch at Viet Huong in El Monte. Instead of the usual pho, I ordered my standard bun cha. It’s quite a popular joint with the local office folk as well as El Monte police officers taking their lunch break.

The Wife and I had a late dinner at Pinocchio’s in Burbank. I had their pumpkin ravioli. Note to self: stick with my usual order of other pastas like linguini and spaghetti. We ate in the third dining room where murals adorned the walls.

On Saturday morning, I spent breakfast with two of my favorite former interns at one of my favorite restaurants, Alcove, in Los Feliz. Mention Alcove, and I’ll gladly meet you here.

At the register, I saw THIS: a red velvet milk chocolate bar. I had to get one. (It is delicious!)

After breakfast, I walked to the Los Feliz branch of the LA Public Library. I was looking for an audiobook for my commutes to work. No dice. But I did spot this READ poster with LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

That evening, the Wife and I headed to the KINGS game against the Chicago Blackhawks. They had just traded Jack Johnson away (meh), and there were trade rumors that Dustin Brown (the Captain!) was going too. Ridiculous! Wife wore his jersey for support.

Apparently, Brownie also heard the rumors because that night, he scored a freakin’ hat trick! For the uninitiated, a hat trick is when one player scores three goals in a game. The fans, in turn, throw their hats onto the ice!

The next day, I got up and headed to Griffith Park for a 4-miler. It was my first run of 2012. I’m baaaaack. It was also the first time I’d been back to the Griffith Park golf course area where there’s a new “trail” down Crystal Springs Drive!

There you have it. Enjoy the last week of February, readers! If you can get Wednesday off, perhaps you should go to Disneyland for 24 hours!
