During my first two months of pregnancy, I got really nauseous from the OTC prenatal vitamins I was on. I tried Trader Joe’s, Rainbow Lite from Whole Foods, and Nature Made. I don’t know about you but I’m not a fan of horse pills. I wish I’d heard of Bundle Organics prenatal juices earlier! You can drink your prenatals!
During a Twitter party, I noticed Bundle Organics was participating and I reached out to ask if they would be willing to send their juices for me to review. They graciously sent me their 3-pack of organic prenatal juices and voila! Here we are!
What It Is
Bundle Organics prenatal juices launched in 2013 and are made in So Cal – holla! Local business! Made in the USA! The juices are non-GMO, gluten-free, and packed with your daily prenatal vitamin essentials. In theory, you could drink a juice every day in lieu of your prenatal vitamin. (However, I am not a medical professional – you need to talk to your doctor first.) Another plus? Shelf-stable! You do not need to refrigerate them until you crack one open! The three juices offered are: (I’m color-coding them by wrapper)
- Purple – Dark Berry & Veggies
- Green – Kale Apple Lemon Ginger
- Orange – Orange Carrot Berry Ginger
Each one has about 16-17g of carbs, 16g of sugar, and all are packed with calcium, folic acid, vitamin D, omega-3, and iron. Preggos know that the folic acid is super important for baby.
Get Your Drank On
Before I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I made juices and smoothies like there was no tomorrow. After my glucose tests, I paid a lot of attention to how I could sip the rest of my Bundle Organics juices without jacking up my blood glucose scores. (I test four times a day. FOUR TIMES.) I asked my GD program dietician if it would hurt me to drink a bit of juice. My numbers were pretty stable thanks to a pretty consistent diet.
I love these juices. LOVE. I wish they were sold at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s because I’d pick up these anytime. She was OK with me taking sips – ie. 1/4 cup or less as part of my snack times, but I couldn’t do it every day. (It’s a good thing these juices will stay fresh for 7 days after you’ve opened one.)
I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed drinking my prenatals in juice format! I think Spawn liked them too as she bounced around a bit when I took my sips. (If you have GD, your mileage will vary – again, check with your doctor and/or dietician!)
Bundle Organics knew about my GD and notified me that I could drink these after Spawn is born, which is a great idea. By then, I should be clear of gestational diabetes and can go about my bidddness again. My favorite juice is probably the Kale Apple Lemon Ginger juice. Each of the juices are very smooth and tasty. Even if you’re not pregnant, they’d still be pretty delicious drinks.
