Sun 7/4/10 Long Run: 6.78 Miles

Before I forget, I’m going to blog about my long run and my first time running around the golf course at Griffith Park. While I should be cramming the last few weeks, I haven’t been. I’ve been doing long runs and a short run during the weekday. And that’s about it.

Early on July 4th, I set out to Griffith Park. I was not heading to the Rose Bowl because of the fireworks show that night. (Who knows when or if they had already closed the park to the public for this.) Plus the Silverlake Reservoir is only a 2-mile loop, which if you know me, running around in circles bores me.

So I took a guess at where to park – pony rides, and set off to follow a dirt trail. I kind of knew where I was going but not really. I started around 7:30AM and ran two loops around the golf course. The course itself is dirt and sand, and I was able to avoid the asphalt and sidewalk.

I felt really good running down Crystal Springs Drive both times. I had a harder time in the sand even though it was softer on my knees.

Overall, I’d grade this run an A-.

Gear:
